When buying a product do you buy it the first time you see it? A TV commercial, for instance, runs several times with catchy jingles and memorable antics to get you to remember the product. Research shows that a customer needs to see your product, service and logo at least 7 times before they feel comfortable in buying or using it. Some ways to capitalize on the Rule of 7 are as follows:

  • Contact a customer 7 different ways.
    1. Phone call with your tagline
    2. Your business card  with your logo/tagline when you invite them to coffee
    3. A follow up email with your logo and tagline
    4. Traditional letter with your logo and tagline.
    5. Brochure sent with your logo and tagline
    6. Thank you note with your logo and tagline
    7. Birthday or Anniversary card or email with your logo and tagline
  • Ad Frequency- the more your ad is seen the more it will become a habit and people will feel comfortable with your product or service.
  • Define your target market and gear it to that age group and gender specific
  • Networking- be consistent in attending and people will remember you

Remember two ways to capitalize on the Rule of 7 is with target marketing and ad frequency. Know your market and find the right market for your product or service. The more your ad is out there the more comfortable potential clients will be to use you or your product.

These are just a few ways to keep your product and service in the minds of potential customers. Be consistent and repetitious.
